Each day, an average of 19 new survivors connect with TAPS seeking hope and access grief resources. They are searching for understanding and comfort in a life that has been shaken from the sudden and traumatic loss of a loved one whose life included service in our nation’s military. Whether a survivor comes to TAPS through our helpline, website, referral from the service casualty office, or other referral, one of the initial actions by TAPS is to send the Survivor Resource Kit; a care package filled with vital information, available resources, items to provide comfort, and a personal message offering a supportive presence for the journey ahead.
Kits are customized to the family, with items added to provide information for children, benefits, and suicide loss. The TAPS Resource Kit box is one of the first steps for a survivor to finding help, hope, and healing.
